Porcelain Veneers

Your Dream Smile Can Be a Reality

If you have multiple cosmetic flaws that disrupt the beauty of your smile, you may be surprised by what is possible with porcelain veneers. Rather than correct each flaw individually, porcelain veneers provide each tooth with a brand-new façade. Veneers can be customized to meet your aesthetic preferences and correct multiple issues at once. Some patients can even make their teeth appear straighter with porcelain veneers, without the need for orthodontic treatments.

How Veneers Work

Porcelain veneers are wafer-thin shells of durable, stain-resistant dental porcelain. They are hand-made to fit over the front of each tooth that appears when smiling. This creates a dramatically improved appearance for each tooth, as well as your entire smile.

Porcelain veneers can correct:

  • Gaps
  • Chips and fractures
  • Intrinsic stains
  • Teeth of irregular size
  • Teeth of irregular lengths
  • Unusually shaped teeth
  • Dental misalignment

Ultimately, there are very few cosmetic flaws that porcelain veneers cannot correct!

If you choose to get veneers with Silver Spring Smiles, you will first meet with Dr. Dufera to discuss your goals for your smile, and learn how the process works. We will discuss your cosmetic concerns and present what your projected results may look like with veneers.

Once you have decided you want veneers, Dr. Dufera will treat the teeth to initiate the process. He will then take a dental impression, which will be sent to the dental laboratory where your veneers will be crafted. After your teeth have been treated, you will need to wear temporary veneers to protect your tooth enamel until your permanent veneers are ready. When your veneers arrive, we will call you in for a second appointment to permanently attach the veneers to your teeth, immediately delivering a brand-new smile!

Porcelain Veneers Are the Ultimate Smile Makeover

Porcelain veneers have gained popularity in recent years, as more people have learned of their benefits. As a result of improvements to the fabrication process, veneers are now more natural-looking and comfortable than ever. Many famous figures and celebrities have had the treatment, as well. If you’ve ever noticed a celebrity’s teeth being transformed seemingly overnight, veneers are usually how it was done! Luckily, you don’t have to be a celebrity to get a smile makeover with porcelain veneers. If your teeth and gums are in a good state of health, you may be a good candidate for this cosmetic dentistry treatment.

A Permanent Improvement to Your Smile

Unlike other cosmetic treatments, such as teeth whitening, porcelain veneers do not need to be touched-up or repeated to maintain your positive results. Veneers are a permanent alteration to your smile, and as long as you take good care of them, they will continue to provide you with a beautiful smile for many years to come.

The average estimated lifespan for porcelain veneers is officially 10-12 years. However, many patients are able to continue wearing their veneers for 17 years or more before they need replacement. Veneers are very strong, but, just like natural teeth, they are susceptible to damage. To protect your veneers, do not use them for anything other than chewing your food. Because veneers permanently alter your teeth, they are not reversible. Once you choose to get veneers, your teeth will need to wear veneers indefinitely due to the small amount of enamel removal required for placement.
